Please see the UAF Administrative Policy Statement (pdf) to learn how trademarks are managed at UAF. UAF offers companies two licensing agreements: a royalty bearing license for companies whose products are for retail product distribution and a non-royalty bearing license for companies whose products will be used internally at UAF. UAF requires all of its employees and students to obtain collegiate merchandise, bearing UAF or other University of Alaska trademarks, only from trademark licensed suppliers. This requirement also pertains to merchandise that is being purchased for non-retail internal distribution and use, such as merchandise given away or used for internal UAF functions. UAF employees who purchase goods for internal use from licensed vendors holding royalty-bearing licenses should obtain a royalty waiver from the Office of Technology Transfer. Use of UAF trademarks for official UAF business does not require approval or use of a licensed vendor. Uses for official business include stationery, business cards, official publications, course materials, reports, journals and other materials used in the normal course of business. To obtain a license to use UAF trademarks, please download and complete a Trademark License Application. Submit it to — If you have questions or need assistance, please call 907.474.7765.
