Subaward Compliance

IACUC - Animal Care

UAF must ensure that compliance is adequately handled by any subaward recipient. Therefore, for animal use UAF must have:

  1. Prior to award - Written confirmation signed by the subaward recipient's Institutional Official that the subawardee has a valid animal care program. The letter must indicate that subawardee is either AAALAC accredited or they have a current "Assurance of Compliance with PHS Policy" on file with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, NIH. If AWA covered species are involved then subawardee facility must also be registered with USDA. Letter must contain their assurance and/or registration numbers.
  2. Prior to award - A copy of the IACUC protocol with written confirmation of review and approval from the chair of the IACUC.  This must include confirmation that the subaward UAF has on file is linked with the approved protocol.
  3. During award - The IACUC at the subaward institution must provide evidence that continuing review (at least annual) is occurring. The receiving institution's IACUC must report to UAF any suspension of activities related to this IACUC protocol.
