Plant Phenology – Looking At Your Data

Are the data reasonable?

Graph Explanations

Student A Green-Up Data Graph

Graph shows that budburst occurs on May 9, with leaf length in mm increasing through May 19. Error in measurement on May 22. Leaf Growth hits the maximum leaf length on May 24, with the leaf length reaching approximately 60mm. Leaf Growth ends on May 28.

Student B Green-Up Data Graph

Growth starts on May 8 and continutes through May 25, increasing from 0mm in leaf length to approximately 60mm in leaf length.

Student C Green-Up Data Graph

Growth starts on May 10 with leaf length approximately 5 mm, and increases through May 25 with leaf length at approximately 65 mm. Graph ends with May 26 entry.

Cumulative Degree Days Until Red Maple Budburst Graph

Graph compares budburst in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and Glennville, New York for 1999. In Waynesboro, budburst begins earlier than in Glenville.
