UAF Financial Aid
In general, you will be able to use your current Financial Aid, such as a student loan or a Pell Grant, for an exchange or study abroad program. You'll be able to use many scholarships as well, including the UA Scholars award and the Alaska Performance Scholarship. Dependent Tuition Waivers may only be used on international or north2north exchanges, not for study abroad programs.

Boren Awards for International Study
Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations. We focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
Fund for Education Abroad
The FEA offers scholarships for up to $10,000. FEA is committed to increasing the opportunities for dedicated American students to participate in high-quality, rigorous education abroad programs by reducing financial restrictions through the provision of grants and scholarships.

The website for the Institute for International Education contains links and information on a wide range of scholarships including Fulbright Grants, Whitaker Awards, NSEP, and many others.
Freeman Awards for Study in Asia
Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
Critical Language Scholarship Program
Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master ’s and Ph.D. students.

DiversityAbroad.com has partnered with several organizations to offer study abroad grants and scholarships.
Pride Foundation/GSBA
$500,000 is available in scholarships to support education and leadership development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer students of any age; students who have an LGBT parent; and students who are straight allies and are committed to civil rights for the LGBTQ community.

Undergraduate scholarships for study in Canada.
Gates Millennium Scholarship
Provides funds for outstanding, well-rounded, low-income African American, American Indian/Alaska native, Hispanic American and Asian-Pacific American students. Must have 3.3 gpa and be a US citizen. Must be nominated by the university president, a dean, or a professor. For undergraduates or students applying for grad school.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
250 awards (up to $7500/year) to undergraduate science and mathematics students for their last year or two of undergraduate study. Students must be planning a career in science or mathematics. There are awards in two categories: Two-year scholarships to those who will be juniors, and one-year scholarships to those who will be seniors. Student must have at least a B average and be a US citizen, resident alien, or US national.
