scholarship was established to promote international
education among humanities or liberal arts
undergraduate students by encouraging
UAF students to
study abroad and by helping
foreign nationals from smaller,
economically disadvantaged countries
enrolled at UAF to complete
their studies.

Scholarships/Fellowships
The NSEP David
L. Boren scholarships provide opportunities
for U.S. undergraduate students to learn
less commonly taught languages while
studying in regions of the world critical
to U. S. Interests but underrepresented
in study abroad. Boren Fellowships provide
funding for U. S. graduate students
to add an important language and overseas
component to their education. NFLP
offers advanced language training in
Central Asian languages, Hinki, Korean,
Mandarin, Persian, Russian and Arabic.

Program offers award specifically

Gates
Cambridge Scholarship
Provides
scholarships to study or conduct research
at Cambridge University with the long-term
goal of producing future leaders that
will address global problems related
to health, equality, technology, and
learning. Applicants
must be admitted to a Cambridge College.
Gates
Millennium Scholarship
Provides
funds for outstanding, well-rounded,
low-income African American, American
Indian/Alaska native, Hispanic American
and Asian-Pacific American students. Must
have 3.3 gpa and be a US citizen. Must
be nominated by the university president,
a dean, or a professor. For undergraduates
or students applying for grad school.
Barry
M. Goldwater Scholarship
250 awards
(up to $7500/year) to undergraduate
science and mathematics students for
their last year or two of undergraduate
study. Students must be planning a career
in science or mathematics. There
are awards in two categories: Two-year
scholarships to those who will be juniors,
and One-year scholarships to those who
will be seniors. Student must
have at least a B average and be a US
citizen, resident alien, or US national.
The
Export Council of Alaska
The
Export Council of Alaska is one
of a nationwide network of export
councils intended to foster the
international competitiveness
of the United States. A major
element of the mission of the
Council is the scholarship program. Annually
the council organizes an Export
Alaska Luncheon at which the winners
of the scholarships are invited
to accept their awards.
