Note to Graduate Students receiving Teaching or Research Assistantships or Fellowships: You must still take a copy of your contract or award letter to the Graduate School to have your tuition posted and insurance charges adjusted. This can happen as soon as you complete registration for the semester and does not need to wait until the first day of classes.
Drop for non-payment policy:
Beginning fall 2012 semester, UAF will return to a form of the previous policy of dropping student for non-payment of tuition and fees. This is in an effort to better serve our students and encourage on-time payment each semester. Faculty are still encouraged to drop students for non-attendance for those who demonstrate a lack of serious interest in the class so it is important that you attend every class session or notify the faculty if you are sick and should not attend due to the illness.
Important dates for the fall 2012 semester are:
- September 7, 2012 fee payment deadline; late fees will be assessed after this date.
- September 14, 2012 drop for non-payment; this allows students a week after late fees are assessed to drop, swap, add, etc. and take care of account balances before any drops for non-payment will occur. (Please note that this extra week of refunds at 100% replaces the previous week of 50% refunds.) Students who are dropped for non-payment and wish to be reinstated will be required to pay a reinstatement fee.
Payment plans are available for students who prefer or need to spread their payments out over the course of the semester. Students with pending guaranteed financial aid are able to enter into a promissory note, allowing them to remain enrolled and able to access other services such as the SRC, housing and dining services.
Students who elect to enroll in a payment plan or enter into a promissory note will not be dropped for non-payment. Only students who have neither paid their account in full nor made any of the above arrangements will be dropped. For more Information contact the Business office at 474-7384 or email questions to registrar@uaf.edu.
NOTE: If you are a graduate student receiving an RA, TA or Fellowship, if you have not taken your contract letter to the Graduate School for processing your award before September 7, you will be assessed a late fee and dropped for nonpayment if this is not completed before September 14.
