Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Alaska Fairbanks! We are excited that you will be joining our community, and want to do everything possible to help you feel welcome. Degree seeking students coming in F-1 status:
Once you are formally admitted to UAF, the Office of Admissions and the Registrar will send you an email notifying you of your admission. They also provide International Programs & Initiatives with your official letter of admission. The original admission letter and your immigration document (Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility) will be shipped as soon as possible. Please note: Under U.S. immigration regulations, the I-20 cannot be issued or shipped until your documentation of funding and a copy of your passport identification page has been received.
Exchange and Study Abroad Students coming in J-1 status:
Once your application has been approved, the DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitors (J visa) Status will be prepared. The DS-2019 will be needed during your visa appointment. The Study Away staff will send your document, along with other information to you. They will also be in contact with you through email for the course registration and other processes.
