Ecologist to speak about ANWR travels
Ecologist Dave Payer will speak about his experiences floating the rivers of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge during a free public lecture Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. at Schaible Auditorium on the UAF campus.

Sessions for prospective UAF students

Alumni Drive traffic restriction
The Alumni Drive entrance to the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus will be restricted to westbound, or uphill, traffic only for one month beginning approximately July 10th.

Scientist to speak about volcanic ash clouds
University of Alaska Fairbanks postdoctoral fellow Peter Webley will speak about techniques for detecting volcanic ash clouds and give a demonstration of how he uses Google Earth in his research during a free public lecture Wednesday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at Schaible Auditorium on the UAF campus.

OneTree project begins in Fairbanks
Fairbanks, Alaska -- A new community outreach and research project, OneTree, will launch in Fairbanks next month. The University of Alaska Fairbanks forest products program will coordinate the collaborative project, which explores art and science through a connection to a single birch tree.

Bering Sea flights prove viability of university’s unmanned aircraft
Researchers can chalk up another accomplishment for the University of Alaska’s Unmanned Aircraft Program. Based on the seal-observing performance of the program’s 40-pound ScanEagles, researchers have learned the aircraft can operate in snow and light icing conditions. This feat enhances the viability of the technology, which has proven useful flying through smoke and fog during previous scientific flights.
