Cabin at core of UAF history
By Tori Tragis, University Relations

The Rainey cabin is barely visible in an aerial photograph of the University of Alaska campus taken in 1938 by Bradford Washburn.

By July 10, 1941, when this aerial photograph was made, the boreal forest on campus was partially cleared and the Rainey cabin was at the edge of a hayfield.
The Rainey-Skarland cabin peeks out from the left side of the Cutler Apartment Complex in this photo taken in fall 2005.

See how the campus has grown up around the Rainey-Skarland cabin.
