Vice Chancellor for Student and Enrollment Services

Tim Barnett was named vice chancellor for student and enrollment services in June 2006, before that he had served as the executive dean since August 2003. Barnett came to UAF from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., where he had been vice president of student affairs since 1999. Other positions he’s held during his career include director of the Dana Center and Student Activities at Loyola University in New Orleans from 1992-1999 and associate dean of students at Biola University in Southern California from 1987-1992.

Barnett earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1976, a master's degree in student development from Azusa Pacific University in 1985 and a Ph.D. in education and business with an emphasis in strategic planning from the Claremont Graduate School in 1997.

He received a Fulbright scholarship in 2002 to engage in research and discussion about strategic planning and diversity in Germany.

The vice chancellor for student and enrollment services at UAF oversees the departments of admissions, residence life, Wood Center student union and student activities, Center for Health and Counseling, disability services, career services, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math/Science, financial aid, Registrar’s Office, orientation and freshman and transfer services.

In addition, the vice chancellor for student and enrollment services establishes direction and provides leadership and advocacy for all aspects of university student services at the main campus and UAF’s six community campuses.
