Garcia to speak on leading multicultural teams Submitted by Tammy Tragis-McCook Leadership professor Joseph Garcia will give a free public lecture, "Leading Multicultural Teams," Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in Schaible Auditorium on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. Garcia is the director of the Institute for Leadership at Western Washington University. His lecture is the first in the Susan Herman Distinguished Speaker Series, named for former School of Management professor Susan Herman, who recently passed away. "Joseph Garcia is a noted expert in the field of organizational behavior, the same field that Susan Herman was hired by the School of Management to teach," said Mark Herrmann, dean of the School of Management and interim director of the UAF Northern Leadership Center. "It is most fitting that Dr. Garcia is the first speaker in the Susan Herman Distinguished Speaker Series." The lecture is open to the public and an ice cream social will follow.
