UAF wins top honors at AISES conference Submitted by Carla Browning The American Indian Science & Engineering Society recently named UAF the chapter of the year for 2007. This is the second consecutive year that UAF has won the award and the sixth time overall. UAF received the award in 1994, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2007. UAF alumnus Lorena Hegdal also received an award at the conference, being named the National 2007 Professional of the Year. Hegdal is the engineering director at Aleyska Pipeline Service Company and has been a supporter of AISES at UAF since its inception. AISES was founded in 1977 to increase the representation of American Indian and Alaska Natives in engineering, science and related technology careers.
