5th Annual Alaska Biomedical Research Conference Submitted by Mary Van Muelken
Download schedule (PDF) This conference began in 2005 as a way to bring showcase the research conducted by University of Alaska undergraduate and graduate students working in biomedical laboratories and has expanded to include university and non-university participants from throughout the state of Alaska. While including several guest speakers, the conference relies heavily on participation of affiliated faculty throughout the UA system. The growth of the conference in recent years is a direct result of enhanced attention to biomedicine at the university and funding of biomedical research by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation among others. Particularly important to these efforts are the Alaska INBRE, or Idea Network of Biomedical Research Excellence, the Center for Alaska Native Health Research, the Specialized Neuroscience Research Program and the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research and independent research grants. UABRC 2009 is sponsored by the Center for Research Services. |
