Teaching Assistantships
The Department of Music offers a limited number of teaching assistantships in the following areas: private and class lessons in music performance, piano accompanying, or music theory, depending upon the immediate needs of the Department. Stipends for these assistantships range from $3100 to $7200 for nine months depending upon the nature and extent of duties assigned.
The out-of-state portion of tuition is waived for recipients as well. Assistantship appointments are limited to a maximum of two years in duration.
Although applications may be submitted at any time, limitations in available campus housing make it advisable for applications to be sent to the Department at least seven months in advance of date of entrance to assure a reasonable chance for obtaining campus housing.
Applicant must be admitted to the program before an assistantship can be awarded.
To apply, write to: Chair of the Department of Music, c/o P.O. Box 75560, Fairbanks, AK 99775-5660 and indicate what are of music teaching you would be interested in doing.
