An intensive two week program of music education for students in grades 6 through 12 on the beautiful University of Alaska Fairbanks campus
June 8-21, 2008

The UAF Summer Music Academy, an event sponsored jointly by the UAF College of Liberal Arts Department of Music and the Fairbanks Symphony Association, is proud to announce its fifth season! The Summer Music Academy is an intensive two week program of musical education for students who have finished grades 6 through 12. All students of the appropriate age and musical experience are welcomed at the UAF Summer Music Academy, regardless of race, religion, gender, or culture. We recognize that each student has a unique style and pace of learning, and we seek to provide opportunities for students to learn in their own style and at their own pace while fitting into the larger musical community.
Goals of the UAF Summer Music Academy
1 To develop to the fullest the artistic potential of each student through a broad musical educational experience.
2 To encourage community involvement and public service through performances and activities in Fairbanks community settings.
3 To promote excellence in music education with "an emphasis on Alaska, the North, and their diverse peoples" in accordance with University of Alaska Fairbanks mission statement.
