An audition is required for all undergraduate and graduate music majors entering a music degree program. For information concerning the UAF Department of Music graduate application procedures, please visit the "Master of Arts Degree in Music" link found in the left column banner.
Undergraduate Audition Process:
Undergraduate auditions are held before the first day of classes, fall semester and in March of spring semester. All students must pass their entrance audition before being admitted as music majors. Students must fill out and submit the online audition request form (see below) to book their entrance audition (confirmation will be sent to you from the audition coordinator). Students already enrolled in the UAF Department of Music or who live within the Fairbanks North Star Borough must perform a live audition. All others may opt to submit a DVD audition. DVDs must be unedited. Auditions should include two works of contrasting style and be about 10 minutes in length total.
To be considered for a music scholarship for the upcoming academic year, students must audition by the March deadline and subsequently be admitted as a music major. Occasionally, scholarships may be available for spring semester admissions. Please note, music scholarships are awarded to music majors only.
All other admissions requirements are listed on the University Admissions Site.
