CHALLENGE MET!

2016-2017 Holiday Challenge Grant

Thank you to all our donors who helped us meet the generous challenge by the Friends of the UA Museum of the North. This group of individuals who work to support the museum’s mission offered $20,000 in matching funds to help us raise income during this difficult economic climate. We are thrilled to report that 96 of you were encouraged by their challenge to make a donation of $31,800.

That means we raised more than $50,000 during this unique fundraiser.

Thank you again to our #GivingTuesday donor, Kendall Toyota of Fairbanks, for their generous gift of $5,000. And to each and every one of you who made a gift to the museum, helped share the news, or gave your time in some other way.

We are grateful to our UAMN supporters.

OPEN HOUSE OF GRATITUDE

Thanks for joining us at our annual Open House on Saturday, Jan. 28 for FREE cupcakes by Jo Pearson of Jo's Oven, our current Chefs' Challenge at the Museum dessert champion. We also handed out thank you gifts to our donors, including our new UAMN tote bags, decals, and lapel pins.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact Morgan Dulian, UAMN Director of Development, at madulian@alaska.edu or (907) 474-5484.

Dear UAMN Supporters and Advocates

November 17, 2016

Today we are mailing a letter to over 2,000 UA Museum of the North supporters. Many museum advocates will not recieve this letter becuase they have already joined our membership program or given to recent fundraising efforts. However, we want everyone to know about this holiday challenge to raise revenue for the museum.

We have set a goal to raise $100,000 for the museum's annual fund before the end of this academic year (2016-2017) in order to ensure that the community is not directly impacted by recent budget cuts to the university, Many community members and supporters have already responded with amazing generosity to a request for support that was mailed in August. More than $26,000 has been raised to date!

Now, the Friends of the UA Museum of the North, a special group of individuals who work to support the museum’s mission, have stepped up with a challenge for our community during this season of giving to get us closer to our goal.

Led by President Ron Inouye, the Friends have built a $20,000 Matching Challenge.  That means that through Friday, December 30, 2016, all gifts to the UA Museum of the North’s annual fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $20,000.

For those of you who make monthly contributions, both your November and December donations will go toward this challenge, doubling the impact of your gifts. For those of you who feel moved to make an additional gift during this challenge, you can visit bit.ly/uamngiving or call the UA Foundation directly at (907) 474-2438.

Thank you again for your generous support of the UA Museum of the North. It is because of the philanthropy of individuals like you that we are able to continue to offer hands-on programs for children and adults, address real-world problems though meaningful research, and produce engaging exhibits for more than 91,000 visitors annually.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly at madulian@alaska.edu or (907) 474-5484.

Respectfully,

Morgan Dulian
Director of Development
