About the Artist

Eustace Ziegler is one of Alaska's best-known artists. He is most famous for his paintings showing the rugged lives and personalities of Alaska's pioneers. Native people, priests, miners, trappers, and fishermen were painted with attention to individual details and character.

Ziegler lived in Alaska for only fifteen years, from 1909 to 1924, but he made many return visits. He painted Alaskan scenes throughout his sixty-year career as an artist.
