We Are Inupiat (in Inupiat)
We Are Iñupiaq

We are the Iñupiat people of northern Alaska, and we live in harmony with the land and the sea. The People of Whaling Exhibit tells about our traditional and modern life and values, philosophical beliefs, hunting practices, and tools. Whaling is the focal point, since Iñupiaq life centers on hunting the bowhead whale. The seasonal round of other subsistence activities, such as fishing, seal hunting, and caribou hunting, also are key to our way of life.
