Photographs
fill the pages of our everyday lives as they illustrate the books,
magazines, brochures, billboards, posters, and countless other
media of the day. Photography is vital for many aspects of commerce
and industry, and here in Fairbanks the medium is used widely
to show, sell, and tell. From real estate listings to senior portraits,
from restaurant menus to newspaper reports, photographs portray
what we want to see or need to know.
Making quality photographs for a diverse and demanding marketplace
is always challenging and requires experience, finesse, technical
skill, and artistic judgment. Fairbanks is very fortunate to have
many talented professionals who provide a broad array of image-making
services, and in this exhibit we see the work of a few. The photographs
show only a sampling from the field of commercial photography,
but provide clear hints at the medium’s range. Through this
work our lives are informed, our scrapbooks are filled, and our
appreciation of Fairbanks is significantly enhanced.
