MUSEUM ACTIVITIES

Use the following activities to enhance your visit to the museum.  Writing boards are available at the museum.  Please bring your own pencils.  Note: only pencils are allowed in galleries (no markers, pastels, etc).

Moose Jawbone

Museum Education has a large hands-on collection used in our teaching and displays.  Many kits and objects are available to borrow for educational purposes.  Use hands-on objects in your classroom or within the museum when you visit to enhance your lessons.

Need help with funds? Try securing a grant from one of these organizations:

    • Apply by Oct. 1 for a visit between Jan-May
  • AK State Council on the Arts
    • Apply by Sept 1 for a visit between Sept 15-Feb 15 or by Feb 1 for a visit between Feb 16-May 31

OFF SITE ACTIVITIES

Philospheres

Print these rhombicuboctahedrons (26-sided spheres) onto heavy paper. Then cut, fold and tape to form your own spherical model of the museum or a celestial body.


MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES

Pre-recorded programs are available for viewing online. Past museum lectures, interviews and other educational media are also available to checkout free of charge for educational purposes.

Alaska's Digital Archives presents a wealth of historical photographs, albums, oral histories, moving images, maps, documents, physical objects, and other materials from libraries, museums and archives throughout our state including the UA Museum of the North.

National History Day resources from the museum and local school district are available online to help students develop successful exhibits.

Software updates are available for the place where you go to listen interactive CD-ROM.
