Museum Kits contain specimens, artifacts, models and activities for a wide variety of ages. Designed for hands-on learning, the collections can be used in many different ways. Kit materials reflect the diversity of the UA Museum of the North’s research collections and utilize materials from our rich teaching collection to help you explore culture, science, and natural history.
How to borrow a kit:
1) Purchase a Kit Pass.
Passes are $25 per academic year. Becoming a pass holder enables you to borrow from our teaching collection, including unique specimens and objects and all of our kits. Buy a pass and enhance your lessons all year long!
If your first loan starts 2 weeks or less from your date of request, you may purchase your kit pass when picking up your loan.
2) Make a request.
Fill out our request form online. Please make request at least 1 week in advance.
Kit Pass holders can reserve kits throughout the academic year. Use the online form. If you are a new kit user, purchase your pass within 2 weeks of your first request in order to hold your reservation.
If you are unable to make a request online, contact us.
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Phone: 907-474-6948.
3) Pick up your kit.
Kits are picked up and dropped off at the museum.
Pick up your kit on the designated date. Failure to pick up within 48 hours will result in cancellation of the loan.
If you need to cancel your loan, contact us at least 1 week in advance. Kits are popular and we often have a waiting list. Cancelling with less than 1 week notice may result in loss of your borrowing abilities. Failure to pick up is considered a last minute cancellation.
Some kits may be mailed. The requesting school will be responsible for shipping costs. Contact us for details.
4) Return your loan on time!
Kits should be returned to the museum no later than 5pm on the due date. A late fee of $5 per day will be assessed.
