Celebrate a birthday at the Museum of the North
Want a unique kind of birthday party? Does your child like to explore, make art, and experiment with science? Come celebrate at the UA Museum of the North! UAMN Birthday parties are age appropriate and designed for children between 5 and 11 years old.

From October through May, connect with museum research and collections during our monthly themed Family Days. Explore science, art, and culture through hands-on art & science activities. Meet the experts. Learn about UAF research and explore museum collections.

Discover & Create
Explore a different theme every month! Discover science, culture, and art through interactive investigations, hands-on exploration and crafts. Our activities are designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage multigenerational collaboration. Drop-in the Creativity Lab during program times and enjoy an experience together. EARLY EXPLORERS (5 and under, with adult) every Friday, 10-noon
JUNIOR CURATORS (6 and up, with adult) Two Saturdays per month, 2-4pm
Enjoy special exhibits all year
Special exhibits, designed and built by museum staff, explore a variety of subjects. Interactive elements make exhibits enjoyable for the whole family. Special programming around the exhibit themes is developed every year for families.

Vogel 50x50: Starting December 13th, the museum will offer a free showing of the film Herb & Dorothy by filmmaker Megumi Sasaki in the auditorium the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Look for a series of art workshops in March; find out more and reserve a place here.
Our Family Room is a place for children and adults to be curious and feel at home. Collection-based touchable materials, toys, puzzles, and books encourage quiet investigation and intergenerational discovery time. The Family Room offers a low stress environment for adults to relax and all ages to explore.
Included with regular museum admission.
Spend a night at the museum! Join us for after hours special activities and night time gallery explorations. Create, explore, and finally sleep amongst the exhibits. An evening snack and light breakfast is provided. Our annual sleepover took place on February 20, 2015.
