Jiyeon Baek

Student Volunteer (Summer 2013)

Jiyeon "Joan" Baek graduated from West Valley High School in 2012 and is currently an undergraduate at UC Berkeley with an intended major in Molecular and Cell Biology. She loves to travel; she has lived in South Korea, Michigan, and North Dakota in addition to Alaska, and has visited over 40 states. In her free time, Joan enjoys volunteering with Cal Rotaract. She works part-time as a curatorial assistant at the University and Jepson Herbaria and began volunteering at the University of Alaska Museum in the summer of 2013.

Kristen Scholten

Student Volunteer (Fall 2013)

Kristen Scholten is a Pre-Med student majoring in Biology and plans to become a surgeon. She loves outdoor recreation and spends her free time hiking, scuba diving, rock climbing, backpacking, downhill skiing, and snowboarding. She has spent the last three summers working in Denali National Park on the Trail Crew and volunteering on the Park's search and rescue team. She also enjoys international travel and has been to Egypt, Costa Rica, Mexico, Germany, and the Netherlands. She is part-time highschool volleyball referee and began volunteering for the University of Alaska Museum in the fall of 2013.
