On Feb. 5, 1956 the delegates of Alaska's Constitutional Convention signed the proposed constitution for Alaska before nearly a thousand people who crowded into the University of Alaska's gymnasium to witness the historic event. The facility was renovated in 1984 and named Signers' Hall in commomoration of the signing.
