RE: MPC recommendation 06-02: Approval of UAF plan for winter walking and snowshoe trails in North Campus
The UAF Master Planning Committee (MPC)
recommends approval of the amended “Winter Walking and Snowshoe
Trails Plan” for North Campus, submitted to it by its North
Campus Subcommittee (NCS) at its regularly scheduled meeting on
Thursday, November 9, 2006. The MPC vote in favor of this
recommendation was 12 in favor, none opposed, and no abstentions (NCS
vote on this was also unanimous).
The recommendation reads:
The MPC approves North Campus
Subcommittee recommendations (as amended) for winter walking and
snowshoe trails guidelines dated November 6, 2006 along with trails
identified in the document entitled “Proposed Winter Walking
Trails Plan, Updated 11/6/06”. The amendment to the NCS
recommendations adds a Phase One walking trail from Ballaine Lake
eastward to the intersection of the north-south trail (Pooch Loop) and
then north and south to their intersections with other Phase One trails.
The MPC expressed its appreciation to the
North Campus Subcommittee for its thorough analysis of this plan and
its extensive public process to invite comments from the campus
community. In particular it appreciates the work of Rich Boone, NCS
chair, and Luke Hopkins, North Campus Manager—both of whom have
provided skilled leadership in this effort.
