Approval of new ski trail south of the ASF antenna access route
UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS
MASTER PLANNING COMMITTEE (MPC)
MEMORANDUM
May 26, 2005
TO: Steve Jones
Chancellor
FROM: Richard A. Caulfield
Chair, UAF Master Planning Committee x2850
RE: MPC recommendation 05-04:
Approval of new ski trail south of the ASF antenna access route
At its regular meeting on May 26, 2005, the UAF Master Planning Committee unanimously
approved the following recommendation (MPC 05-04) regarding construction of
a new ski trail south of the access road into the ASF satellite dish on North
Campus. A quorum was established; 12 MPC members were present.
The recommendation reads:
The UAF Master Planning Committee recommends design and construction of a new
ski trail south of the existing access road into the ASF satellite antenna
on North Campus, as presented at the MPC meeting on May 26, 2005. This recommendation
is founded on the view that an ASF rescue plan requires access by a ladder
truck from UAF Fire Department. Construction of the new trail will separate
recreational uses from required vehicular access.
In approving this recommendation, the MPC expects that the rationale for this
decision and the information on which it is based will be disseminated to the
wider campus community. Our hope is that this new trail can be completed no
later than the beginning of the ski season in fall 2005.
