MASTER PLANNING COMMITTEE (MPC) MEMORANDUM March 4, 2005 TO: Steve Jones Chancellor, UAF FROM: Richard A. Caulfield Chair, UAF Master Planning Committee x2850 RE: MPC recommendation 05-01: Recommendation on Thompson Drive entrance sign At its regularly scheduled meeting on March 3, 2005, the UAF Master Planning Committee approved the following recommendation regarding the proposed UAF entrance sign on Thompson Drive. Your review and approval of this recommendation is requested. The specific recommendation is as follows: The UAF Master Planning Committee endorses the design of a campus entrance sign presented by the Thompson Drive Corridor Concept Committee in its recommendation dated March 3, 2005. [see attached] MPC members voted 12-0 in support of this recommendation with no abstentions; twelve MPC members were present for the vote—a quorum being established. In making this recommendation, the MPC was mindful of the work of a professional consultant who assisted in the design and the broad representation on the Thompson Drive committee. We also discussed a number of additional features that might also be included (e.g. digital sign, time/temperature, date of UAF establishment). However, in the end were attracted to the proposed sign’s simplicity and elegance.
