Date: November 18, 2004
Subject: MPC recommendation 04-08: Recommended changes to Master Planning Committee bylaws

At its regularly scheduled meeting on October 28, 2004 , the UAF Master Planning Committee approved the following recommendation regarding proposed changes to the MPC bylaws (see attached). Consistent with existing bylaws, the MPC did so following a minimum 30-day period in which the proposed bylaw changes were posted on the MPC website.

Your review and approval of this recommendation is requested.

Changes to the bylaws, underlined in the attached copy, include three major elements: 1) allowing you as Chancellor to appoint up to 21 members (previously 18 could be appointed), 2) modifying those identified as nominators for new members (e.g. adding Staff Council), and 3) adding standard language regarding the new standing committee on Campus Landscape and Outdoor Artwork.

MPC members voted 9-2 with no abstentions in support of this recommendation; eleven members were present—a quorum being established and the required number present to vote on bylaw changes.
