| RE: | MPC Recommendation 03-02 Provision for summer visitor parking on West Ridge during construction in 2003 |
At its regularly scheduled meeting today, the UAF Master Plan Committee (MPC) unanimously approved this recommendation based upon formal input from its Subcommittee on Circulation and Parking:
“The MPC recommends that UAF Parking Services provide visitor (only) parking spaces in the east Arctic Health parking lot during museum open hours for summer visitors, as listed below:
| June 2003—40 spaces | July 2003—60 spaces |
August 2003—40 spaces |
We understand that museum staff will not park near the Museum or on West Ridge during this period but will make use of the Nenana Lot and shuttle bus service. Following this leadership, it is recommended that all West Ridge directors and administrative staff benefiting from new construction (e.g., Museum, WRRB, BICS) demonstrate their support by joining faculty, staff, and students in encouraging daily use of the shuttle bus system in this difficult time.
In keeping with this, the MPC recommends that no new Gold Decal parking spaces be approved in the West Ridge construction area.”
