ACE TANANA VALLEY DISTRICT OFFICE GETS NEW HOME ECONOMIST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 20, 1995

Fairbanks, Alaska - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Alaska Cooperative Extension (ACE) has appointed Roxie Rodgers Dinstel as the home economist for the Tanana Valley District office. Dinstel will begin work Nov. 1, replacing Natalie Thomas who retired earlier this year.

In making the announcement, ACE Director Hollis Hall said that Dinstel’s extensive experience fills the needs of both the Fairbanks community and others in the state of Alaska. “I expect her to make many valuable contributions that will help make Alaska an even better place to live,” Hall said.

Dinstel comes to Alaska from Forsyth, Mont., where she is the county extension agent for Rosebud and Treasure counties. During her career, Dinstel has been honored numerous times for excellence. Among the honors she’s earned are district rookie of the year by the Texas Extension Home Economists; district young careerist by Oklahoma Business and Professional Women; and professional of the year by the Forsyth Chamber of Commerce. She is also active in various state and national professional organizations.

A graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, Dinstel earned her master’s degree from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. Her major was home economics with a minor in consumer science. She has started work on her doctorate degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla.

Alaska Cooperative Extension serves Alaskans through a series of 13 district offices around the state. Extension programs are designed to deliver practical information based on sound university research to citizens to use in their daily lives.
