All advertisements placed by or on behalf of the University of Alaska Fairbanks need to contain certain essential elements. Anyone involved in placing and/or designing ads for UAF is encouraged to use this checklist as a guide to make sure these elements are included or addressed. Unless otherwise noted, these elements apply to all print, radio, television and web advertising.
___ Name, date, time, place of game or event (if applicable)
___ UAF website: www.uaf.edu or department's website (whichever is applicable)
___ Contact information (phone number, email address, if applicable)
___ Broadcast availability
If the game(s) or event(s) being advertised will be broadcast via radio, TV and/or web streaming, be sure to include this information in the ad.
___ AA/EO and accreditation statements (required for PRINT ads). Federal law requires the following statement to appear on all UAF print, multimedia and web publications designed for external distribution:
UAF is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and educational institution
or: UAF is an AA/EO employer and educational institution.
The accreditation statement can optionally be included with the AA/EO statement as follows:
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. UAF is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and educational institution.
The AA/EO and accreditation statement can be printed in type as small as 5 points.
___ UAF logo
Print and TV ads must include the UAF logo. The logo should not be smaller than 1/2" across in print ads. Logos and guidelines can be found online at www.uaf.edu/logo.
___ UAF name
Print, radio and TV ads must include "University of Alaska Fairbanks" in the copy or as part of the logo. "UAF" may be used instead of "University of Alaska Fairbanks" in radio ads when appropriate. Do not use a comma, dash or hyphen between Alaska and Fairbanks.
___ Before any ad is published or broadcast, a proof or script should be reviewed by others for accuracy.
