What are PDF files?
PDF (.pdf) or "Portable Document Format" files are page images of documents. Documents will appear the same as the originals. Characteristics of the documents, such as colors, fonts, format, and images remain the same regardless of the platform used. Use of PDF files is an increasingly common method of publishing electronic documents. PDF files can only be read with Adobe Reader (or other Adobe products).
What is Adobe Reader?
Adobe Reader is the free software program that allows you to view and print PDF files.
- Computers in the Rasmuson library have Adobe Reader installed. If you're in the library and are having difficulty opening a .pdf file, ask for help at the reference desk or circulation desk.
- Adobe Reader may already be installed on your computer. Acrobat may be bundled with current versions of your browser.
How do I get Adobe Reader?
If Adobe Acrobat Reader is not installed on your computer, you can download a free a copy.
