How to Find Videos and DVDs in Goldmine

Finding Videos and DVDs by Subject in Goldmine

  1. Go to http://goldmine.uaf.edu/uafandbiosci.

  2. Set library to "UAF - Rasmuson Library."

  3. Search by words or phrase for your subject and one of the following key words separated by "and":
    "videocassette" to search for VHS tapes
    "videodisc" to search for DVDs
    "videorecording" to search for all video formats

    example: "videorecording and nature"

  4. Click on Search to get a result list. If more than one item matches your search criteria, you will get a list of possible choices.

  5. Click Full Details to get the call number and description. Click on "Click here to see call numbers and locations" or scroll to the bottom of the Web page to find the call number.

    Most Rasmuson Library VHS tapes have call numbers starting with "VH-" while DVDs have call numbers starting with "DVD-." We need these numbers to find your videos and DVDs.

Other Search Examples

"Videorecording and feature films" will find most movies.
"Videorecording and French and subtitles" will find many French films with English subtitles.

Finding Video and DVD New Additions (by call number) in Goldmine

  1. Go to HTTP://goldmine.uaf.edu.

  2. Click on Power Search in the main search box.

  3. After the screen refreshes, click Call Number Search.

  4. Set shelving scheme to "Alpha-numeric class scheme" and library to "UAF - Rasmuson Library."

  5. Enter a call number of "DVD-" to list DVDs or "VH-" to list VHS tapes. Entering "DVD-0" will start the list with the first DVD. Entering "DVD-21" will start the list at that call number.

  6. Click on Search to get a result list.

  7. Click Next or Previous at the top of the page to move through the list.

    To find the last-entered video, search for call number "VH-9000" and then click Previous. Keep clicking Previous to see other recent entries.
