FRENCH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE AT UAF

Odile Bastile (left) and Yelena Matusevich at International Friendship Day, Oct. 2002

In recent years, the focus of French studies shifted slightly. Today, to simply teach about France is to give one small view of the people who speak the French language. At UAF, our emphasis is the Francophone world. Africa, Indonesia, the Middle East, Canada, the Antilles, and portions of North and South America are studied on all levels of instruction here.

For a listing of our French courses, see course descriptions in our catalogue.

During the semester, we also offer several choices of extracurricular activities enabling you to use your French outside of the classroom such as French Film night, and soirees on campus ranging from a potluck of French cuisine to a simple Fondu Night. All of our events are free and open to the public!
