Leone Hatch: Just What Is She All About?
It's Me! Leone! Pronounced Lee-own

Leone was born and raised in southern Wisconsin in the 50's.  Her father came from a close but spirited family that considered sing-alongs the height of entertainment.  One of her earliest memories is of her charming great Uncle John proudly rendering Mrs. Foggerty's Christmas Cake just for her!  To Leone's parents' dismay she began collecting records as soon as she had an allowance, and soon had a large and (to adults within earshot) annoying collection of bubble-gum recordings.  Where-oh-where are those treasured Monkee albums today?

Fortunately her father introduced her to Scheherazade, and her far more sophisticated older sister introduced her to the 60s and 70s folk music scene, giving her at least a dim hope of developing some taste and discrimination.

Unfortunately, after years of frustrating lessons on various instruments, and painful hours at choir practice, it became evident that while instilled with a great love of music, she had no talent whatsoever.  None.  So she had to go to law school and become a yuppie instead of a musical artiste (sob).

While living in Sitka, Alaska in the 80s, she answered a call for volunteer programmers on the local public radio station, KCAW (Raven Radio).   After a few months of training she was allowed her 'first flight' live and on the air, shooting the music she loved across the airwaves of enchanting Southeast Alaska.  What a silly grin she sported all day!  Soon thereafter she was given her first radio show Sunday Thymes.

Regretfully she eventually left lovely Sitka, and after a brief stint at the Anchorage Public Station KSKA, moved north to Fairbanks in 1990.  Within a few months Leone was hosting the Monday night blues programing on KUAC, and before too long was happily programming her current show, Postcards each Sunday evening.

Fairbanks, with its shocking cold, fluffed-up ravens, and extreme, spare beauty is now home.  Rooted with a stable job, beloved husband, adoring cats and a live-in building project, she expects to be programing Postcards for many years to come or at least until station management pries her cold stiff fingers off the mike.

Which won't be to soon!
