The Administration of Justice Graduate Project will be completed on a topic of interest to the student, and should include a topic that embodies the knowledge acquired from the various course areas presented within the Degree Program. The Project should synthesize information gained from these courses while addressing a particular area of interest. Typically, students should plan on registering for the Project in the Fall Semester PRIOR to the Summer they plan to graduate. The Project will encompass a total of (6) Credits, completed over the course of (2) Semesters.
Semester I
Students will enroll in Justice 698 for (3) Credits. The Course will be a formal on-line course, delivered over the Blackboard in the same style of other Graduate Courses. During the course, students will be expected to participate in and complete the following:
· Become familiar with the Literature Review process and analytic skills
necessary to critically review Research.
· Learn the critical components of Research applicable to the Project,
including Methodology.
· Develop a Project Outline, Abstract (no more than 150 words), and Annotated
Bibliography.
· Present Project Outline/Abstract for class discussion and review.
· Develop/Select a Project Committee, including selection of a Project
Chair.
Semester II
For the second Semester of the Project, students will again register for Justice 698 for (3) Credits. Students will be expected to do the following:
· Students will consult with Project Chair regarding Preliminary findings
on their Project.
· Project Chairs will be forwarded, for review, the students' Preliminary
Projects/Draft completed during the first Semester of Justice 698.
· Students will continue work on the rough draft of their Paper, and
consult with their Project Chair on an on-going basis. It is highly recommended
that students forward, for review, each respective Section of their Paper.
Upon completion of the second Semester of Justice 698, students should plan to make a presentation of their papers to students during the Summer Capstone Course, Justice 690. It is important to note that students are not required to have a completed, finished product at the time of presentation during the Summer. However, they should be prepared to give a 30 (thirty) minute presentation on their Project/findings to date, with a follow-up period for questioning by fellow students. Students who are presenting the Project will be required to forward a copy of their materials to their fellow Summer participants at least (2) weeks prior to the presentation. This will allow for students to review the work and develop questions as appropriate.
