Systems Programmer - Control Contractors

The SBT Intern-Technical position is designed to accommodate an internship in a technical or engineering job function area. This internship requires that the student be studying towards a degree in disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, etc.
The Intern will complete assigned tasks including learning and providing field technical support, modifying AutoCAD drawings and/or graphics, working out sequences of operation, developing bills of materials, and engineering database updates to help generate quality engineering submittals for and under the guidance of other Engineers. May assist Engineers and Specialists to perform job start up, checkout, and troubleshooting for systems and service jobs. Provides program or project support which may include collection and analysis of data, creation and formal presentation of drafts, reports, proposals, charts, testing results and other engineering related documentation.

The SBT Intern, under close supervision, will be assigned specific job tasks and projects during the internship period. Job assignments may include, but are not limited to composing, preparation of reports, research, proposals, charts, testing and a variety of correspondence using appropriate PC-based software packages for word processing, presentation, and database and spreadsheet applications.
Supports field operations in project and/or program assignments including providing technical, database, drafting and other engineering related tasks. Helps others plan, organize and implement project activities.
Supports department or district activities (e.g. manufacturing process improvements, auto-cad design, conducts performance testing, field project support etc.) to update, organize, and provide engineering support as needed.
Upon internship completion, creates and delivers final project assignment presentation to various management, human resources staff and other internship participants.

Current sophomore undergraduate student or higher pursuing an Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited technical school, college or university.
A 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or better cumulative GPA. Prior work experience, community involvement or participation in extra-curricular activities. Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must display an ability to communicate a clear understanding of their subject matter and offer informed suggestions to improve processes; respect individual differences and utilize the diverse thinking and contributions of all team members/employees.

 

The Mars Program Office at JPL/NASA has released the first request for applications for Mars Flight Project Internships !!!

The program is an outstanding opportunity for science and engineering students to contribute to current Mars Flight Projects, and become part of the next generation of scientists. Mars Flight Project Interns will work at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory ( Pasadena, California ) directly with leading Mars scientists and engineers on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) mission. Initial Internships will run for a period of 6 months - from March 2006 to September 2006, on a full-time basis, with compensation for time/labor and relocation.Opportunities include working with scientists on instrument calibration, science research, and aerobraking.Internship eligibility requirements include being a student in good standing at an accredited university or college and U.S citizenship
or legal resident. The preferred education level for this internship program is junior or senior undergraduates or first or second year graduate students. University concurrence by department chair and an advisor recommendation will be required. Selection criteria will include (1) scholarship (GPA and publications) and experience; (2) education and career objectives and scientific interest; and (3) coursework. Internships are open to all students without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, marital status, sex, military service, sexual orientation, or non-disqualifying disability.
