Who can take TMP couses?

• Courses are open to everyone. Especially invited are those interested in tribal government, tribal administration, tribal law, program development, and community services, such as health and social services, education and career development, economic development, business development, or environment and natural resources.

Who can apply to the Tribal Management Program?

• Those who wish to apply to the program and eventually earn a TMP Certificate or Associates of Applied Science Degree should have a high school diploma or GED.
• Previous training or work experience in the administration and management of local service programs is recommended but not required.
• Students must be familiar and comfortable with computer applications prior to enrollment in tribal management courses.

Program Delivery

• The core courses of the program will be delivered primarily on-site, supplemented with audio sessions. The Certificate program will consist of two training sessions as well as other coursework.
• The A.A.S program will consist of four training sessions plus other coursework.
• One training session will be offered each semester.
• Students taking six credits (two courses) per semester will complete the Certificate program in two years and the A.A.S program in four years.
• The University of Alaska Tribal Management Program will work with Native nonprofit organizations to develop on-site training sessions for specific regions.
• Tuition, fees, and book costs are determined by the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Costs associated with training sessions, such as room, board, and travel, will vary by region.

Enhancing Student Employability

• Those students completing 30 credits for the TMP Certificate may choose to further thier academic goals with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Tribal Management or apply for admission into the Rural Development bachelor's degree program.
