Activities
During the school year, students are presented with a multitude of dynamic opportunities from cultural experiences, field trips and hands-on activities to test preparation, academic intensives, study hall and exploration of options after high school. Trail Markers also provides an outstanding 6-week summer program consisting of a culture camp, social events, academic coursework, college experiences and campus comparison and exposure to University life.
Upward Bound offers academic and college advising services designed to help students take advantage of their high school years:
Year-round tutoring in the basic areas of reading, study skills, computational skills, math, science, and foreign languages
A six week Summer Session: One/two weeks at camp and four/five weeks of courses in language arts, math/science, critical thinking, and other electives chosen by the students.
College advising for individuals and small groups.
College preparation assistance: admission forms, financial aid, and scholarships.
Career exploration early on to help focus students on lifelong goals.
Technology Literacy Workshops: Internet Research, Web Page Design, Photo-Editing, Desktop Publishing, E-mail, and other tools for collaborative, project-based learning.
College visitations; including corporate field trips, recreational and cultural field trips.
