Construction Trades Technology Program Head
I was born in Petersburg, Alaska and graduated from Lathrop High School in 1968. I married my high school sweetheart, Martha Williams and together we have 10 children, 22 grandchildren and 14 foster children.
I enjoy subsistence fishing, hunting, wood smoke cooking and gardening. Actually I enjoy being self-reliant. I am a part owner in a fishcamp where we operate a fishwheel every year, on our property near Gakona, Alaska on the Copper River. While in Barrow for 12 years, I was also privileged to be on the Patkotak whaling crew and was given the name “Ikaiyuun” (helper). It was a great cultural experience and definitely a highlight of my time there on the North Slope. I taught Plumbing and Mechanical at Ilisagvik College in Barrow for 3 years and have been teaching for Construction Trades Technology at Interior-Aleutians Campus since February 2011.
I am a Journeyman Plumber (JP) and a Mechanical Administrator (MA). I hold a mechanical contractor license and I also teach continuing education for JPs and MAs through my own online business.
I love showing how to do Plumbing in the Arctic and especially teaching how Warm Water Heating is more comfortable and energy efficient than typical methods.
