Directors Welcome

Welcome to Interior-Aleutians Campus (IAC).   IAC is one five campuses serving rural Alaskan students through the College of Rural and Community Development (CRCD).   IAC is a unique campus due to the area it serves, the teaching formats it uses, and the integration of cultural knowledge and practices into its curriculum.

The rural campuses are a critical link between the University of Alaska and rural residents, many in remote communities off the road system.   IAC provides distance and place-based education to sixty one communities in the Interior Region (an area larger than France) and Aleutian Chain (a total area of about 200,000 square miles).   This far reaching area is served through an administrative and education center in Fairbanks (the Harper Building) and six rural centers located in Tok, Nenana, McGrath, Galena, Fort Yukon and Unalaska.

Our courses and programs provide relevant skills and knowledge on a wide range of topics including animal care, tribal management, health, education and other areas.   We take pride in the usefulness of our courses and our accessibility; our staff and faculty go out of their way to aid student success.   We also have bridging programs and courses for high school students and those who would like to enter college after time away from formal education.

We invite you to learn more about our programs and see if there is something there for you.   If you have questions, contact us.   We would like to help you learn new and interesting things and, just perhaps, find a career you love.

Welcome Teisha Simmons, Director for IAC

I am excited to work with the interior and Aleutian regions to deliver the various educational opportunities the campus has to offer.
