  • There are 10 communities in this service area, which is about the size of Ohio.
  • The villages vary in population and are located on the Lower Yukon and Upper Kuskokwim Rivers.
  • All travel is by air.
  • Approximately 66% of the population is Alaska Native, predominantly Athabascan, representing four of the eleven Athabascan Languages.
  • The McGrath Center provides a variety of locally offered college classes.
  • The Center staff can also assist you in preparing for a University Degree or Certificate Program.
  • Outside of McGrath, most of the area residents are only seasonally employed; however, the area is developing a mining economy.
  • The center provides applied mining training to prepare residents for employment in this industry.
