Academic advising
Since there is not a specific degree program in General Studies, the Academic Advising Center is your contact for advising and general information. The Academic Advising Center is staffed by professional advisors as well as faculty advisors representing the schools and colleges at UAF. They will assist you in exploring all the options available to you for course selection, majors and potential career opportunities. There are other offices at UAF that also assist students with academic questions. Rural Student Services (located in the Brooks Building on campus) and the Student Assistance Center at Tanana Valley Campus (downtown Fairbanks) have advisors available to work with students. You will eventually work with a faculty advisor in a major department and may be referred there by an advisor from one of the offices listed above. It is important to be thinking about your degree plans so that courses are taken in a timely manner and you begin working with the faculty and department where you will be granted your UAF degree.
