The Institute of Arctic Biology Research Greenhouse was completed in
1994. Construction was funded by a grant from the National
Science Foundation, with matching funds from the University of
Alaska Fairbanks, and from an appropriation from the State of Alaska.
The IAB Greenhouse provides a reliable environment for growing
plants for research and educational projects year-round. Facilities
include four separate computer controlled (QCom) zones housing research projects and plant
collections, and three climate-controlled (Conviron) growth chambers.
