SUGGESTION

Many academic institutions have the ability/willingness to pay out faculty salaries over 12 months, even though the faculty member is on contract only 9 months. (That is, the 9 month salary is simply divided into more pieces.) It would be really nice if UAF were willing to implement such a system. Is that possible?

The university's payroll system and benefits procedures are not programmed to accommodate this; UAF is not the owner of the system or processes and would have to defer to the system office to initiate changes for payment of a nine-month salary over 12 months. The best method available right now is for employees to budget their salary to cover the months off contract.
