Every day the University of Alaska Fairbanks' faculty and staff show their support to UAF through their hard work and dedication to its students. The Annual Giving Program would like to give a special thanks to employees who supported UAF last fiscal year, or already this fiscal year, through gifts to the areas of the university they love the most.
“What I love best about teaching and conducting research at UAF is the interaction I have with the students, staff, and faculty. I work with a wonderful group of people! The people who are at UAF could go anywhere in the world because they are very talented, but they chose UAF because they love the university, Fairbanks, and Alaska. The research opportunities available at UAF are unbeatable. We live in a unique environment with globally-important research opportunities in our own backyard.
Unfortunately, UAF is one of the most under-appreciated universities I have encountered. It consistently provides a high quality education to students at all levels from certificate to Ph.D., but does not get credit for the quality of its programs. I believe in UAF. I know that our students are getting a good education and I feel that giving to UAF helps continue that tradition by providing the University with money to support student education and research. ” – Cathy Cahill, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science and Chemistry & Biochemistry
Why should I support UAF?
Giving is a personal decision and we each have our own answer to that question. In addition to your daily contributions of energy and effort, a financial contribution is a different and important way to
demonstrate your investment in sustaining UAF and its students. The number of reasons for giving are diverse, but all reflect a sincere belief in the work being done here at UAF. Ultimately, your participation is a vote of confidence in the university and its future.
How much should I give?
You determine the size and designation of your gift according to your own charitable interests, your
personal willingness to give, and your financial capacity. No gift is too small. It’s your participation that matters.
What can I give to?
You have many choices, but we could not begin to list them all. Many donors choose to make an unrestricted gift, those not restricted for a specific purpose and therefore directed to our area of greatest need. Unrestricted gifts also enable the University to take advantage of unexpected opportunities. Other donors choose a specific department or program, while others might give to support technology improvements, the library, athletics, or one of the many scholarships that are available to UAF students.
How can I give?
There are many easy ways to make a gift to UAF. You can contact the UAF Development Office at
UAF-giving@uaf.edu for information about making a gift via:
• payroll deduction
• check (payable to the UA Foundation)
• online with a credit card
How does payroll deduction work?
Payroll deduction is one of the fastest, easiest and most convenient ways to make a gift. By completing the payroll deduction section on the UAF Pledge Form, you specifc the amount you would like automatically deducted from each paycheck, the start date, and where your support should be designated. You can have an amount deducted until further notice or until a specific total has been reached.
