The People’s Endowment Board at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is pleased to announce the award of funds for 2006-2007.
Grants were awarded to: Sarah Comstock, Wood Center, $1,200 for purchase of Conundrum for the Wood Center; John Fellerath, Director of the Center for Health and Counseling, $1,500 to support & expand ice sculptures on the UAF winter campus; Mary Pete, Director, CRCD, $3,950 for Kuskokwim Campus laminator and supplies project; Lt. Syrilyn Tong, $850 for Taking a Chomp out of Crime, Nanook Style; Bob Metcalf, Records & Registration, $5,000 for the Northwest Campus Greenhouse Completion Project.
The People’s Endowment was established at the UA Foundation in 1986. Initiated by Carla Helfferich as her winning entry in the Incentive Awards Program, its intent is to provide a source of funds for projects that will improve UAF but would likely remain unfunded due to institutional priorities. Grants are used for special projects or to fill a critical need at UAF. Funds for this endowment are solicited from faculty and staff; employees are encouraged to participate in the employee campaign by directing a gift to the People’s Endowment or other Foundation funds.
The next grant period will begin in January 2007.
