To deepen the relationship between the University and its donors, we have created stewardship program and practices designed to further enhance donor relations. Our Stewardship program’s goals follow the standards set by CASE, the professional association for educational fundraisers. These range from meeting the appreciation expectations of donors in their giving relationship to UAF by appropriately thanking donors for their gifts; recognizing donors publicly, when appropriate and forging strong bonds with foundations, corporate partners and other organizations; and keeping donors informed about UAF’s mission, and the intended uses of their donations to meet that mission.
We provide information about fiscal accountability that ensures gifts are being used effectively and for the purposes intended, as well as partnering with the Foundation to provide donors with the most recent financial statements.
We demonstrate best practices by informing donors about:
• The identity of those who serve on UAF’s board;
• The status of anyone soliciting donations, as either volunteers, employees or hired solicitors;
• Confidentiality of our services when handling donation information;
• The opportunity to have their names deleted from mailing lists that may be shared outside the University;
• Any answers to questions they might have, in a prompt and forthright manner.
