Catherine Miller has been with the University of Alaska Fairbanks since January 2005 and in her current role as Development Coordinator at the Development Department since March 2011. She performs administrative support for the central development employees who manage UAF’s fund-raising program that raises philanthropic support from private foundations, corporations and individual donors. Catherine’s previous positions as a Fiscal Technician at Facilities Services and as a Grant Technician at the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences prepared her to serve the department’s mission well in managing the administrative, financial, travel, personnel and payroll functions.
Catherine graduated from Alaska Pacific University’s Travel Management Certificate program in 1981. She earned her Certified Travel Counselor certification from the Travel Institute in 1991. She worked in the travel field for over 24 years in the Netherlands, New York, New Mexico and Alaska as a travel agent, office manager and culminating in being promoted to Customer Service Area Manager of six offices spread throughout Alaska. Due to changes in the travel industry, Catherine chose to leave that profession and bring her considerable experience to UAF’s professional team.
During her personal time, Catherine is an accomplished glass artist who donates the majority of her art to various private fund raising organizations throughout the Tanana Valley. Catherine and her husband Bob have resided in Fairbanks for over 27 years. Her son John is married to Jacquie and they live in Fairbanks. Her daughter Danita is married to Troy and is currently assigned with the Air Force in North Dakota with her two greatest joys, her grandsons, Christian and Dustin.
